With a sachet of the famous chocolate yoghurt i settled into a sit squeezing my self halfway between a man relatively older than i do and a woman with her boy of age 2 to 3 years. Relaxing my back, i heard the woman thinking aloud 'haaa ilu yi su wa ooo, ati eko ni mo ti uun bo epo ti owan ni ko je n ti de osogbo' meaning fuel scarcity as really affected her travel schedule. The driver then beckon to us to pay our fares relatively inflating the price of the agreed fare. I was in a rage, i asked sternly can you pls tell me why you have suddenly hiked the price, he replied emmmmm! Ko si epo ni epo ti won (meaning there is fuel scarcity) meanwhile the amount we had agreed before had catered for his reason of another hike in the price. After a bit of argument filled with abuses from two sharp-tongued ladies at my back he succumbed, apologized and zoomed out of the park.
He stopped by a petrol station to fuel is tank, after queuing for what seems like forever we eventually veered out of the filling station. I was pertubed i couldnt help but ask the driver why did you wait till now before filling your tank, you could have done that before loading at the car park, the other passengers joined the conversation fumingly and angrily saying the driver had really wasted thier time, i had to cut in and beg of them to let him concentrate on the wheel. I had made friends with them all including the small boy.
Throughout the journey my young friend was lively playing all through the journey including hitting my palms, drawing his mum's nose, trying to open the door of the bus among other naughty things. I would poke his nose several times and he wolud result into series of laughter. After a while my friend stops palying with a wry tone he says mom i want to pupu, his mom perplexed says pupu inside you pampers but the boy would not, he just doesnt want to do it until his mother beckons him to bend down and shit inside his pamper. I was marvelled by the training this mom had given her son i remembered those training i passed through from my mom too iya ope. After shitting in his daiper my friend wouldnt play again he wasnt himself, he later started crying. His mom keeps petting him, i was quick to understand the boy and his mom, the boy wasnt comfortable with the shit in his pampers he wanted it off, his mom couldnt stand wasting our time in the already frustrated journey.
I couldnt help it, i said to the driver pls my young friend here needs to change his daiper kindly stop anywhere we can get water. We just needed five minutes to do the changing. Two minutes later the bus veered to the side of the road stopping in front of a small shop. I jumped out bought two satchet of water while his mom undressed him, she changed his daiper, wash his arse and gave him a warm bath. My friend came back to life in his usual playful manner, he wouldnt let me be till we get to our destination. I forgot to add ,his mum couldnt stop thanking me. A tiring and wonderful journey indeed.
